On September 20, 2022, the Institute of Arab Studies, co-sponsored by the Schar School and the Middle East and Islamic Studies Program at George Mason University, invited researcher Rabie Nasser, The director of the Syrian Center for Policy Research, to discuss “The Political Economy of Conflict in Syria; after 2018”.
Rabie Nasser introduced a framework involving an Integrated Development Nodes strategy based on a wider societal role in the economic process, given the absence of political settlement. This occurs by developing the experience of local communities, initiatives, civil institutions, and humanitarian organisations and investing in solidarity-based economic activities in a sustainable and participatory manner.
