The Syrian Center for Policy Research (SCPR) participated in a public lecture titled “Economy, Identity and Institutions: The Struggle for New Syria”, held on June 10th, 2025 as part of ie Talks, an international lecture series hosted by the Department of Development Studies at the University of Vienna, in collaboration with several academic and research partners.

The lecture explored the complex intersections of economy, identity, and institutions in Syria’s post-conflict landscape. It addressed the legacy of neoliberal reforms and privatization policies, the fragmentation of Syria’s social fabric through identity-based narratives, and the pressing issues raised by the lifting of sanctions and emerging regional agreements—including transparency, justice, and the meaningful participation of Syrians in shaping their country’s future.
